Communication and Cognitive groups empower individuals with neurologic impairments and allow them to connect with others, reducing isolation. They also provide a safe, supportive environment to practice communication and cognitive strategies to facilitate greater functional independence.
Groups run in our office at 5570 Sterrett Place, Suite 303 & 305 in Columbia, Maryland and are facilitated by a licensed therapist. Some groups are offered online via Zoom. Read below to learn which group is right for you. Register and pay directly online. You will receive an email prior to the group about details. Reach out with any questions! We hope you will join us!

Meet weekly with other people with Aphasia for a conversational chat. This is an informal group facilitated by a Speech Pathology student. Meet others with aphasia while gaining support, friendship and communication practice.

Connect, communicate, and grow in our Aphasia Conversation Group, a welcoming and supportive space designed specifically for individuals with aphasia. Our group offers a safe environment to practice and enhance your communication skills through guided discussions, interactive activities, and social engagement. Led by a speech-language pathologist, each session focuses on improving speech, language, and confidence while fostering a sense of community and belonging. Whether you want to share your experiences, build new friendships, or simply practice speaking in a relaxed setting, our Aphasia Conversation Group is here for you. Join us to find your voice, express yourself, and enjoy the journey of communication together.

Rediscover your voice in a small-group setting designed for adults living with apraxia of speech. Guided by an experienced speech-language pathologist, each session blends targeted motor-planning drills, rhythm and pacing techniques, and real-life conversation practice—so you can carry new skills straight into daily communication. We layer in visual prompts, tactile cues, and optional AAC tools to match every participant’s learning style, while peer support and lighthearted teamwork keep practice motivating and fun. Over the course of the program you’ll:
- Strengthen the motor pathways that coordinate speech
- Build confidence through repeated, success-oriented speaking tasks

We welcome you to a music therapy experience designed especially for adults with communication impairments. Through guided singing, rhythm activities, and creative musical expression, participants build confidence in communication, rediscover their voice, and enjoy meaningful connection with others. The group blends familiar songs with speech-focused exercises to make expressive language feel joyful and motivating. Our music therapist will lead the group in melodic interventions that will stimulate the brain for better communication, connection, and community!

Work as a team to break down, sequence and organize steps of functional tasks in real world scenarios. This specialized class offers various engaging and targeted activities to improve memory, attention, information processing, problem-solving, and overall mental agility. This program is designed to provide a supportive, enriching environment where individuals with aphasia and other communication disorders can explore the benefits of mindfulness practices alongside peers facing similar challenges. You'll develop valuable communication skills and cultivate resilience, find joy in everyday moments, and build a deeper connection with yourself and others.

Connect with others who use AAC while gaining the confidence and skills to make your Lingraphica device truly your own. In this hands‑on, supportive learning environment, you’ll practice real communication with fellow AAC users and discover how to customize your device so it reflects your voice, your needs, and your personality.

Developed by experts in the field, this class utilizes structured exercises to strengthen the muscles used for speaking and swallowing, helping you regain and maintain your vocal clarity and confidence. Led by trained speech-language pathologists, our sessions are tailored to meet your unique needs, offering personalized support and practical techniques. Join our supportive community and take an active role in managing your speech symptoms with the proven strategies of the SPEAK OUT!® program. Rediscover your voice and enhance your quality of life with us!

Join our physical therapist and as we work to keep your body moving! Our movement group is a specialized treatment program designed for individuals with Parkinson's disease and other neurological conditions. This evidence-based therapy focuses on improving limb and body movement, balance, and overall quality of life. Together we can take the first step towards moving with confidence and ease.

Join a certified Life Coach and Speech-Language Pathologist as she provides a supportive, enriching environment for caregivers to explore the benefits of mindfulness practices on the caregiver journey. You'll cultivate resilience, find joy in everyday moments, and build a deeper connection with yourself and others. This class conveniently takes place virtually.

No one understands Aphasia quite like other people with Aphasia. Connect with small groups of 2-3 people with Aphasia for more personal conversations. Parings meet when its convenient for members and have a 4-week commitment (but many KEEP connecting!) Practice communication in a supportive, tight-knit community of friends.

We have a dedicated space with devices, software, and resources to support cognitive and language rehabilitation. Our staff will offer support, hands-on training, and a welcoming community dedicated to helping you achieve your goals and regain independence.
